How Much Are Jiu-Jitsu Classes? | Know Before You Go

If you're interested in training Jiu-Jitsu, one of the important factors that you need to weigh is if you can afford the cost.

In this page, we will explain how much Jiu-Jitsu classes cost, and what fees you can expect.

    How Much Are Jiu-Jitsu Classes?

The cost of Jiu-Jitsu training varies depending on what part of the United States you are, in and if you are in a major city, but you can expect pricing to be in the $100-$250 range.

The number of times you are allowed to practice per week, as well as how many martial arts you want to practice will be a factor in the price.

    Factors Included in Jiu-Jitsu Pricing

The main factors that can make your monthly pricing more expensive are:

    • How Many Times Per Week Are You Training?
    • How Many Martial Arts? (Just Jiu Jitsu for example, will be cheaper than Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu)
    • Family Plan
    • Is it a Well-Known Gym

Typically gyms will offer a minimum of 2 times per week for a certain price, but the price will increase if you'd like to train every day.

Additionally, many gyms will offer discounts for families that enroll their kids in the children's program.

    Types of Jiu-Jitsu Passes

There are normally only two types of passes:

    • Daily Pass
    • Monthly Pass

A Daily Pass is perfect for those who are traveling or would like to try out the gym before committing to a full month.

A Daily Pass usually ranges from $15-20 for the day, which entices guests to sign up for a full month due to the higher upfront cost.

Cost of Training at Well-Known Gyms

Well-known Jiu-Jitsu gyms such as B-Team Jiu-Jitsu can cost much more than your average gym.

This is due to their massive success with the BJJ fighters that they train, who are now fighting in the major Jiu-Jitsu organizations of the world.

B-Team Jiu Jitsu allows visitors to drop in for a class for $50 per class, and the student must be at least a purple belt to train.

    Fees That Some Gyms Include

Most gyms do a month-to-month basis with all of their students, and you can simply contact the gym to cancel your membership.

However, some gyms have initiation fees, just to begin training, and also offer contracts.

The contracts typically are at an overall lower cost than it would be if you paid monthly, but you'd be responsible for fulfilling the duration of the contract.

If you know a certain gym is the one that you want to go to for a year, contracts can save you a lot of money.

On the other hand, if you're unsure that you can commit to that period, it may be worth it to stick with the month-to-month basis.
