About
Since I was 3 years old, I've been involved in Martial Arts.
As I began to get older, I would become absolutely obsessed with Taekwondo in particular, compete and win many tournaments including World Championship, National, and local Intra-school tournaments.
(I would earn my 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, become an avid BJJ & Muay Thai practitioner, and consistently train in different Martial Arts for 20 years)
During that time, this interest expanded into Mixed Martial Arts, which was just beginning to grow.
I would end up closely following MMA since 2000.
Since 2000, I've watched almost every UFC event that has taken place.
I've watched the sport evolve from no uniforms, weight classes, or even gloves, to becoming a mainstream sport that would be showcased on ESPN.
My interest in MMA would lead me to taking up other Martial Arts such as Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu and Boxing, to become a better overall Martial Artist.
How This Blog Started
After years of hosting UFC events at my house for friends, whenever they had any type of questions, they'd ask me.
Some of the questions would include:
- Why is Fighter X so good?
- Who is going to win this fight?
- What should Fighter Y be doing in this position?
- What's the backstory with Fighter Z?
- Why do Fighters A & B not get along with each other?
- What is Dana White Talking About?
- Why Does Dana White Hate Ariel Helwani?
- Inside Reddit Jokes, such as Why is Chael Sonnen Undefeated?
- Inside Fighter jokes, such as What is Sea Level Cain?
At first it was great (and I felt honored that they'd ask me), being able to explain these things in depth to get them caught up.
However, after explaining the same topic to different people, it quickly became tough to keep up (while trying to watch the fights).
When I would try to find the answer online (to send it to my friends to save some time), I couldn't find good enough articles that explained everything exactly how it happened.
Some articles were too short and lacked detail, while others, you could tell were not written by someone who followed the sport closely.
So, Martial Arts Insider was born.
On this site, you'll find the most reliable and up to date information regarding all Martial Arts, from someone who has been watching it weekly for two decades.
The mission of this site is to clearly explain every topic, and provide readers with the exact answers that they're looking for.
